Writing Prompt: Traveling The World – Start In California

Writing Prompt:

Not everyone wants to travel the world, but most people can identify at least one place in the world they’d like to visit before they die. Where is that place for you, and what will you do to make sure you get there?

Writing Response

Who on earth DOESN’T want to travel the world? I’d argue that we all want to explore and experience new things. This was the case for me when I travelled cross country to plant my roots in the dry desert dirt. And this was the case when I left for two weeks for a California adventure.

For much of my life, California was one of the places I needed to visit before perishing.

To start, much of California looks like Arizona — a desert. But this may have been due to where we were driving in from. Maybe. Possibly.

Then I came to know the rushing waterfalls of Yosemite, the clammy (in smell and in temperature) air of San Francisco that is key to their mouth-watering sourdough, the majestic towering red woods in Big Sur, the eclectic hotel of Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, swam with the garibaldi as they took food directly from my hand on the romantic island of Catalina and then visited the magical kingdom that is Disneyland.

There are so many stories (and pictures!) that I would like to share with you in the coming days of that whirlwind trip. And I will. I just urge that you be a little patient as I get acclimated back to life and this delicious 115-degree weather.
